The 18 Siddhars
The Nadi palm leaves were authored by 18 enlightened masters known as "Siddhars" — beings who had attained the highest level of spiritual evolution and moved beyond the constraints of time. Using their divine vision, they could see the past, present, and future simultaneously.
These seers composed their insights in ancient Tamil poetry on palm leaves specifically prepared to last millennia. Each Siddhar had their own area of expertise and style of writing, and their combined works form the vast collection of Nadi astrology.
The Principal Seers
Agathiyar (Agastya)
Chief of the 18 Siddhars and father of Tamil language. His Nadi leaves are the most extensive and accurate. Still believed to dwell in the Pothigai Hills.
Kausika (Vishwamitra)
A royal sage who became one of the most venerated Maharishis through intense penance. His Nadi writings reveal political and social destinies.
Vashishtha
Family priest of the Solar dynasty and one of the Saptarishis (Seven Sages). His leaves are known for detailed family lineage predictions.
Brighu
Author of the Brighu Samhita — one of the oldest known astrological texts. His Nadi leaves are renowned for wealth and karmic predictions.
Atri
One of the Saptarishis, father of Dattatreya. His writings deal deeply with dharma, family karma, and remedies.
Shuka (Shukadeva)
Son of the sage Vyasa. His Nadi texts are celebrated for their spiritual depth and clarity on liberation and moksha.
Kaushitaki
Known for deep insights into health, Ayurveda, and longevity. His leaves contain extensive healing remedies.
Dhruva
The devotee king who became a polar star. His Nadi writings focus on devotion, steadfastness, and divine grace.
